Commissioner of Police is the chief of Bangalore City Police. He is in command of the entire City Police Force with forex training centers in bangalore to all matters of Police functioning.

The Commissioner of Police is also the Foreigner’s Registration Officer. In his capacity as the District Magistrate he is empowered to act as the licensing authority in respect of arms licenses and matters concerning public amusement. He also exercises powers under the Criminal Procedure Code regarding regulation and prohibition of assembly of persons etc, and detention of persons to prevent breach of public order under special legislation. He generally reports to Government through the Director General of Police. He is the second in command of Bangalore City police next in hierarchy to the commissioner. He is in charge of all matters pertaining to traffic in Bangalore City. He looks after the traffic management in the city.
